Reading is my second love after writing so why not share it?
Every month, I try to read two to three books depending on my travel, work, and nap schedule.
At the end of the year, I’m going to do a yearly book wrap up since I’m just starting this series in October.
As a disclaimer, I don't stick to one genre - I like to hop around from fiction to biographies to self-help. I don't discriminate.
What I Read This Month:
The French Ingredient by Jane Bertch
Summary: This novel is about an American woman who decided to move from London to Paris for more opportunities. In the midst of her stay, she quit her banking job to start a cooking school. The story takes you along the ebbs and flows of entrepreneurship but with a Parisian flair.
Why I Chose It: I’m contemplating spending some time in Paris next year so I thought this read would be an interesting introduction from an American perspective. Also, as a entrepreneur, it was nice to read about starting and owning a business in another country and how different business cultures are internationally.
Rating: 3.5/5
I enjoyed this book - it was an easy read and as someone living abroad, I could resonate with some of the woes of being an immigrant in another country other than your own. This is a good read for entrepreneurs looking for inspiration.
What Could Be Saved by Liese O'Halloran Schwarz
Summary: This novel is about an artist who was contacted by a mysterious man who ended up being her long lost brother who was kidnapped years ago. The story gives the perspectives of the lost brother, the mourning artist, and their distressed older sister.
Why I Chose It: I found this book at a free library and I felt like the storyline along with the diversity of the characters drew me in.
Rating: 4/5
I loved this book. Throughout the story, the author successfully timehopped from different perspectives of the characters which I love and kept the storyline fresh but if you’re looking for a happy read, this isn’t it.
What I’m Currently Reading:
I Love Russia by Elena Kostyuchenko
Why I Chose It: This is a very random read for me and my taste but I realized at the age of 32, I know little to nothing about the history of Russia.
As an American who's been fed propaganda my whole life, I wanted to dive deeper and form my own opinions about the country formally named the USSR.
I'm going to a resort this weekend and in the midst of the beautiful ocean, clear skies, and hotel french fries, I’ll be diving into Putin’s decades long reign - how sexy.
until next month.
Add Moore to Come by Tay Moore I know I’m late lol
What Could Be Saved sounds like something I might go check out at the library next month to read.
